Training in Shenzhen
Rinat A. Galev , Russia
It was the second month I was working with the transport ring multiplexer setting in Saransk, the capital of Mordovia.
I tried to keep up with the quick rate of work to complete the project as soon as possible and return home to Ufa.
One day, unexpectedly, I got a letter from our product manager urging me to prepare for training in China on DWDM equipment.
I quickly completed the project and went to Moscow to attend a special meeting concerning training in China. After the meeting, I departed for China.
On the plane, I was sitting beside a middle-aged Chinese man, who was the manager of a clothes manufacturing company in China. We began talking and he was impressed when he learned that I was working for Huawei. He told me that it is considered prestigious, in China, to work for Huawei. Frankly speaking, I was flattered by the words of the man and I was in a good mood during the rest of my way to Hong Kong.
China greeted me with a heat of 35 degrees and an unusual aroma of spices and marine salt which saturated the air. Strangely enough, I got used to the heat quickly and felt very comfortable. Once arrived in Shenzhen, I stayed in Baicaoyuan, a residential complex for Huawei's employees.
I spent most of the time in the training center where I met people from all over the world. The happy experiences and amazing discoveries made that month of training pass as one day. I learned a lot about Chinese culture and traditions and I made friends with colleagues from different countries. I didn't forget, of course, that my main task was to be trained. The educational process itself was also joyful as experienced teachers did their best to make me a good DWDM specialist.
Several months have passed but I still remember the spicy taste of Chinese meals. I remember the evenings I spent in the swimming pool or walking in the park. I remember when Mary taught me how to eat with chopsticks.
Training in Shenzhen has been fascinating. I returned home happy, enthusiastic and with a strong motivation to excel in my work.
